> From Specialisation to Micro-Purpose
Drawing on the division of labour as described by Adam Smith, the methodology seeks to achieve a production model where: - Individuals specialise, increasing productivity. - Knowledge becomes transmissible, enabling exponential learning. - Small tasks yield cumulative value through structured co-production.
However, Smith’s model was dependent on the firm — a legal, financial, and bureaucratic structure that has caused systemic harm to sustainability and human values.
The hitchhiker model aims to replace the firm with a more dynamic, voluntary, and decentralised form of organisation that retains the productivity benefits of Smith's model while being rooted in human-centric values.
