I’m exploring a new approach I call Rube Goldberg Sociology. It's a tongue in cheek alusion to how we can now build fabulous machines that (despite their strange and daunting complexity), I hope can be a joy to construct, observe and play with.

Long first draft regarding Rube Goldberg Sociology - transcript ![]()
The structure I propose here supports a decentralised, playful and purpose-driven way of working, based on individuals we call Hitchhikers.
These aren’t employees or partners, but motivated free agents with shared values who join forces on micro-purposes – small, achievable tasks – which when combined exponentially increase learning and productivity.
Drawing on ideas like time banks, co-ops, and mutual aid, it questions traditional company models and instead proposes self-contained multimedia "guides" that are robust, human-scaled and sustainable over time.
We aim to build a system that enables co-production through storytelling, collaboration, and digital tools embedded within individual, archive-friendly HTML files.
Want to be a part of this? Just pledge your 42 minutes—and begin to craft guides that could change the world.
